Our Supporters

Thank you to the Rockhampton Regional Council – Community Assistance Program for helping our regions beautiful wildlife.

Wildlife Rescue is a stressful experience for the sick, injured or orphaned animals that need our help.  Wild animals can get capture myopathy from the stress of being chased or restrained.  It can also be dangerous for the rescuer due to the animal fearing for its life or the location of the rescue.

We needed a very specialised piece of rescue equipment that makes it safer for our rescuers and much less stressful for the wildlife that needs us.  The same equipment also allows carers to medicate large animals without the need to physically restrain them.  We applied for a grant to help our charity purchase this much-needed rescue/rehabilitation equipment.  Our application was approved and funded by the ‘Rockhampton Regional Council’s Community Assistance Program’.

Local businesses help us by making strong, safe & custom-designed shelters & enclosures for our wildlife.  Donations of time, materials and/or expertise helps us provide the best rehabilitation enclosures possible for our native wildlife.  They gain experience & strength in a safe and secure environment before they are returned to their natural habitat.

AFS Pharmacies Men's Shed North Rockhampton

Wildlife Rockhampton has many reasons to be grateful to AFS Pharmacies Men’s Shed in North Rockhampton.  We want to thank them for all the time, dedication and support they have shown to our organisation over the years and for their ongoing work to help us care for wildlife and the environment.

They also raise funds for a range of community support projects.  Their ongoing aim is to increase membership of the Men’s Shed by offering a sense of belonging and mate-ship to boost feelings of self-worth among retirees and the unemployed.  Members also draw on their own knowledge and experience to provide guidance and mentoring to younger men, thus enhancing their employment prospects through opportunities to work on these community projects.

Wildlife Rockhampton previously sought their help in making possum boxes.  By giving our released possums a potential home, they have a better chance for survival.  Fortunately for us, AFS Men’s Shed members were happy to assist and built a set of possum boxes for use locally.

We were also delighted when they helped us by building a number of humidicribs that were needed to provide better care for baby animals.  The commercial products were too expensive! AFS Men’s Shed builds them with materials that we supplied through an appeal to the public for donations of plywood, perspex, hinges and catches.
